Prof Victor Junnan Pan is Professor in theoretical linguistics in the Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has been the Chairperson of the department since 2023 and served as Head of Graduate Division of Linguistics at CUHK (2019-2024). He has been appointed Outstanding Fellow of the Faculty of Arts for a term of five years from 2026. Prof Pan received his Maîtrise, Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA) (Research Master) and Doctorat (PhD) from Laboratoire de Linguistique de Nantes (LLING)-UMR 6310, CNRS, Department of Linguistics,Université de Nantes in France and Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from Université Paris Cité (former U. Paris Diderot - Paris 7) in France. Prior to joining CUHK, he was an Associate Professor with tenure in theoretical linguistics at the Université Paris Cité and a full-time researcher affiliated at Laboratoire de Linguisitique Formelle (LLF)-UMR 7110, CNRS, and the Chairperson of the Department of Chinese at U. Paris Cité. In 2017, Prof. Pan was elected as a Junior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France (法蘭西大學學院青年院士) and was elected as a full-time scientific researcher among university professors to work in Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) under the scheme Acceuil en Délégation des Enseignants-Chercheurs au CNRS from 2017 to 2019 and he received Doctoral Supervision and Research Award from the French government. Prof. Pan was appointed by the Ministère chargé de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche de la France(French Ministry of Higher Education and Research) as scientific committee member of Conseil national des universités (CNU) mainly in charge of the Qualification of new professorate faculty members at the national level for the period 2011–2018. He has been an executive committee member of Generative Linguistics in the Old World in Asia (GLOW in Asia) since 2023, and also served as an executive committee member of the International Association of Chinese Linguistics (IACL) and of the European Association of Chinese Linguistics (EACL). Prof. Pan has published five research monographs both in French and in English including Resumptivity in Mandarin Chinese: A Minimalist Account (Mouton De Gruyter, 2016) and Architecture of The Periphery in Chinese: Cartography and Minimalism (Routledge, 2019). He has also published in prestigious international journals including Linguistic Inquiry, The Linguistic Review, Journal of Linguistics.

潘俊楠 (Victor Junnan Pan)，現任香港中文大學語言學及現代語言系理論語言學教授，2019-2024年間擔任語言學研究生學部主任，2023年起擔任語言學及現代語言系系主任，2026年起獲委任為香港中文大學文學院傑出學者，為期五年。潘教授為法國南特大學語言學博士，南特語言學實驗室LLING成員，於巴黎第七大學(現巴黎西岱大學)獲得法國國家語言學博士生導師資格文憑(HDR)，加入香港中文大學前曾任巴黎第七大學長聘副教授，擔任巴黎七大中文系系主任，巴黎七大形式語言學研究所LLF成員，於2017年評選為法蘭西大學學院(IUF)青年院士, 同年獲得法國高等教育部優秀博導及優秀科研獎勵，2017-2019年獲聘法國國家科學研究中心(CNRS)全職研究員。2011-2018間由法國教育部直接任命為全國大學科學委員會(CNU)評審專家，負責法國全國公立大學副教授職稱資格評審工作。2009-2016由法國國家教育部及國家考試院任命為高中畢業考Baccalauréat 中文科目兩名聯合主席之一，負責法國本土、海外各省、海外屬地和在不同國家的法國國際高中等各考區試卷的命題、最後審核及印刷授權簽字。潘教授現任GLOW-in-Asia理事，曾任國際中國語言學學會(IACL)理事、歐洲漢語語言學學會(EACL)理事。其主要研究領域為生成句法學及句法－語意界面等。研究主題包括最簡方案下的前沿理論，如馬可夫式自由合併、多維度合併、平行推導空間、標籤理論、語段理論以及疑問結構、量化結構、左緣結構、複指關係、長距離依存關係、位移理論等。研究對象包括羅曼、日耳曼及漢藏語族語言，特別是漢語及其方言及少數民族語言。迄今以英文和法文出版個人專著五部，其中包括由德國Mouton De Gruyter出版社出版的Resumptivity in Mandarin Chinese: A Minimalist Account 以及由英國Routledge出版社出版的Architecture of The Periphery in Chinese: Cartography and Minimalism。同時也在國內外權威學術期刊發表學術論文多篇，其中包括Linguistic Inquiry, The Linguistic Review, Journal of Linguistics,《當代語言學》,《語言學論叢》等。
